Weldability note: Monel K500 can be welded (GTAW preferred, filler ERNiCu-7). For full aged-condition strength in weld-affected zones, the fabricated assembly should be re-aged at 593°C / 1100°F after welding. Submit RFQ - Monel K500 UNS N05500Monel K500 (UNS N05500) is a precipitation-hardened nickel-copper alloy containing aluminium (2.30 to 3.15%) and titanium (0.35 to 0.85%). In the aged condition it delivers 1100 MPa minimum tensile strength, making it the highest-strength member of the Monel family while retaining excellent seawater and HF acid corrosion resistance.
Monel K500 contains aluminium and titanium which form Ni3(Al,Ti) precipitates during ageing at 593 degC. These submicroscopic precipitates impede dislocation movement in the crystal lattice, raising tensile strength to 1100 MPa, nearly double the 485 MPa of Monel 400. Standard Monel 400 has no aluminium or titanium and cannot be precipitation hardened.
Aged condition (SA+A) means the material was first solution annealed to dissolve all precipitates, then age-hardened at 593 degC for a controlled period. This causes Ni3(Al,Ti) precipitates to nucleate and grow, raising strength to 1100 MPa. Fittings supplied without the ageing step remain at approximately 700 MPa and are not suitable for N05500 high strength Monel fittings applications.
ASTM B366 / ASME SB366, filler code WPNCK, governs wrought Monel K500 UNS N05500 buttweld fittings manufacturer production.
