ASTM A234 WP22 Pipe Fittings refer to forged or formed steel fittings made from an alloy of wrought steel and available in seamless, welded, and fabricated types. They have been designed to withstand high temperatures and pressure levels and consist of essential components such as chromium, molybdenum, carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. The two types of these fittings that are available are class 1 and class 3, and both of them have been designed to meet the requirement of having good mechanical properties. They have been fabricated as per the requirements of standards like ASME B16.9 and B16.28 and are available in many sizes and schedules. WP22 fittings may be furnished as full annealed, isothermal annealed, or normalized and tempered. Normalized and tempered material shall have a tempering temperature of at least 1250°F (675°C). Hardness is limited to 197 HBW. Being an air-hardening alloy, WP22 needs preheat and PWHT for welds due to the 2.25Cr-1Mo composition. Fusion welded fittings will undergo PWHT at temperatures of no less than the tempering temperature of the material. Please match the filler metal and welding procedure with the project.
