Every stainless steel tube enquiry is really a grade question wearing a size. Metinox Overseas is a stainless steel tubes manufacturer and supplier in Mumbai, stocking the austenitic run from SS 304 to 316L alongside super duplex, in straight lengths, U-bends and coils to ASTM A213, A249 and A269, and shipping to fabricators across India, the USA, the Middle East and Africa. One warehouse, one certification regime, every grade on this page. That matters, because the cheapest tube failure is the one prevented at the purchase order. Our complete piping range sits under Pipes & Tubes; this page is the tube half of it.

Start with the grade, always. Fresh water, food or general exchanger work: our SS 304 Tubes page covers the default choice in full. Chlorides anywhere in the picture: go straight to SS 316/316L Tubes. Everything else on this page exists to make that call faster.

Stainless steel tubes products list

We manufacture and supply a full variety of stainless steel tubing, all designed to meet a particular service condition, pressure rating, dimensional tolerance, and industry use. Every type below is supplied in ASTM, ASME and EN certified grades, with the applicable standard, size range and pressure suitability stated for each.

Stainless Steel Tube Grades: Which One Does Your Job Need?

Six grades cover almost every tube order we see. Each row links to a full page with chemistry, properties, sizes and tolerances for that grade.

GradeUNSPick it for
SS 304 TubesS30400The default: exchangers, boilers, food and general service in fresh or treated water
SS 304L TubesS30403Assemblies welded in place and left as-welded, tube-to-tubesheet joints included
SS 304H TubesS30409Superheater and reheater duty above roughly 500°C, where creep strength governs
SS 316/316L TubesS31600 / S31603Chlorides, chemical duty, coastal plants; the molybdenum earns its premium
Bright Annealed Tube 316LS31603 (BA)Instrumentation and analytical lines where the bore must stay mirror clean
Super Duplex S32750 TubesS32750Seawater condensers and desalination, PREN above 40, double the strength of 304

Grades 321, 310S and 904L are supplied against order for thermal-cycling, high-temperature and acid duties; ask with the enquiry.

SS Tube Standards at a Glance (A213 to A554)

  • ASTM A213 / SA213: seamless boiler, superheater and heat exchanger tube, the ASME code route.
  • ASTM A249 / SA249: welded tube for the same equipment, every weld tested.
  • ASTM A269: general service and instrumentation tube, seamless or welded.
  • ASTM A270: sanitary tube with polished bore for food, dairy and pharma.
  • ASTM A554: mechanical and ornamental tube, never pressure duty.

EN 10216-5 equivalents are supplied against order for European specifications. The full standard-by-standard decision table, with ASTM A1016 tolerances, lives on our SS 304 Tubes page; we keep it in one place so it stays current.

What PREN Tells You About SS Tubing

PREN is the pitting resistance equivalent number: chromium plus 3.3 times molybdenum plus 16 times nitrogen. It is a screening tool, not a guarantee, but the thresholds hold up in practice. Around 19, grade 304 territory, fresh water only. Around 24, grade 316L, chlorinated and brackish water become workable. Above 40, super duplex, seawater service is on the table. When a datasheet quotes PREN, this is the arithmetic behind it.

Picking Stainless Steel Tube Grade by Chloride Exposure

Most premature tube failures we hear about trace back to one thing: the water had more chloride in it than the grade could take. The ladder is short.

  • Fresh and demineralized water: 304 does the job, decade after decade. This is its home ground.
  • Chlorinated, brackish or warm chloride-bearing water, aggressive CIP chemicals: move to 316L. The molybdenum is the difference between a tube that pits and one that does not.
  • Seawater, desalination, coastal once-through cooling: super duplex S32750, and nothing lighter. PREN above 40 exists for exactly this water.

One more line worth memorizing: austenitic grades under tensile stress in chlorides above about 60°C risk stress corrosion cracking, and duplex structures largely do not. That single fact settles a surprising number of condenser retube decisions. The full 304-versus-316 argument is written up in our guide SS 304 vs SS 316, and the escalation pages are SS 316/316L Tubes and Super Duplex UNS S32750 Tubes.

Straight, U-Bend, Coil & Bright Annealed SS Tubes

  • Straight lengths: to 6 m standard, longer against order, cut to length for retube kits.
  • U-bends: formed to drawing with radii from 1.5 × OD, stress relieved after forming on request, shipped as matched sets crated per bundle.
  • Coils: continuous instrumentation runs without a fitting in the middle, which is one less place to leak.
  • Bright annealed: mirror bore for instrument and analytical lines; the finish is explained fully on our Bright Annealed Tube 316L page.

SS Tube Testing, Certification & Export to USA, Middle East & Africa

Whatever the grade, the regime is the same. Every tube is tested to ASTM A1016 general requirements, hydrostatic or eddy current on each length plus the flattening, flaring and hardness tests of its governing standard, with intergranular corrosion testing to ASTM A262 and PMI on request. An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate ships with every order and 3.2 witnessed certification through BV, SGS or TUV is arranged at order stage. Metinox Overseas is an ISO 9001 and PED certified company, approved to the procurement standards of SABIC, ADNOC, KNPC, EIL, IOCL and BPCL, so Middle East EPC paperwork clears without drama; the program is on our Quality Policy page. Exports move in regular consolidations from Mumbai to the USA, the Middle East and Africa, crated and end-capped as described on Packing and Dispatch. Ex-stock grades dispatch in 7 to 14 working days. Made-to-order sizes and U-bend sets take 4 to 6 weeks.

Stainless Steel Tubes: Frequently Asked Questions

Start from the water or the process stream, not from habit. Fresh and demineralized water, food and general exchanger duty run on 304. Chlorides at any temperature push you to 316L. Seawater and desalination duty call for super duplex S32750, and sustained superheater temperatures call for 304H. Describe the fluid and the temperature and we will name the grade in one reply.

Yes, on regular consolidations from Mumbai. Middle East supply is backed by approvals to SABIC, ADNOC and KNPC procurement standards, USA shipments carry full EN 10204 3.1 documentation for import compliance, and African orders ship crated and end-capped for long transit.

Bright annealing heat treats the tube in a protective atmosphere, so the bore comes out mirror clean with no scale to flake into instruments or product. It earns its premium on instrumentation, analytical and high-purity lines. For general exchanger duty, standard annealed and pickled finish does the job at lower cost.

Yes. Send the bundle drawing or the tube count with bend radii, from 1.5 times OD upward, and we will supply matched U-bend sets, stress relieved after forming on request. Retubing orders usually ship one crate per bundle so site crews can work row by row.

OD 6.35 to 101.6 mm with walls from 0.5 to 6 mm, in straight lengths to 6 m plus U-bends and coils. Standards run ASTM A213, A249 and A269 for pressure and general service, A270 for sanitary lines and A554 for ornamental work, with EN 10216-5 equivalents against order.
