Grade: TP304 / TP304L (UNS S30400 / S30403) · Standard: ASTM A312 / ASME SA312 · Type: Seamless · Size: ½" to 16" NB · SCH 5S to 160

This is the most-ordered grade in the most-trusted route, so it is worth getting the details exactly right. Metinox Overseas supplies stainless steel 304 seamless pipes to ASTM A312 TP304 and TP304L, ½" to 16" NB, with 3.1 certification on every heat and export lanes to the USA, the Middle East and Africa. A seamless TP304 pipe combines the everyday economy of grade 304 with the joint-free integrity of the seamless route, which is why it is the default for pressure and process lines that do not justify a higher alloy. For the full grade story, sizes and tolerances, see our SS 304 Pipes page.
And for the route story, why seamless costs more and when that premium pays, see Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes. This page stays narrow on purpose: it covers the specific numbers, certification and buying decisions for the TP304 seamless pair, so you can quote it without hunting across two pages.

Grade theory, the 18-8 chemistry and where 304 sits against 316 and the L and H variants, lives on the grade page. Route theory, how a billet becomes a seamless pipe and the weld joint efficiency argument, lives on the route page. What follows here is only what changes when you put those two together: the weights, the schedules, the certification and the premium decision for TP304 seamless specifically.

| NPS (NB) | OD (mm) | Wall SCH 40S (mm) | Weight (kg/m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| ½" | 21.3 | 2.77 | 1.29 |
| 1" | 33.4 | 3.38 | 2.55 |
| 2" | 60.3 | 3.91 | 5.54 |
| 3" | 88.9 | 5.49 | 11.49 |
| 4" | 114.3 | 6.02 | 16.36 |

Schedules 5S and 10S run lighter for low-pressure work; 80S and 160 heavier for higher pressure. Send the size, schedule and length for exact unit weights.
Most modern seamless TP304 is produced to dual 304/304L certification, and it is worth understanding why that helps. The pipe meets the strength minimums of 304 and the lower carbon limit of 304L at the same time, which means one pipe covers both a general-service line and an as-welded assembly without splitting the stock. For a contractor running mixed work it removes a whole inventory line. Ask for dual certification by name and it is the standard supply.
On grade 304, the premium decision is sharper than on exotic alloys because the base metal is inexpensive, so the route is a larger share of the price. Pay for seamless where the line carries pressure, cycles thermally, or sits under a spec that mandates it. For utility air, drains, low-pressure water and architectural runs, welded TP304 delivers the same grade at a real saving. The full argument, with numbers, is in our guide on seamless versus welded stainless pipe.

Seamless TP304 covers pressure and process piping in food and dairy, pharmaceuticals, water treatment, chemical utility lines and general engineering, wherever grade 304 suits the medium and the line justifies seamless. Every order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate; see our Quality Policy. Consolidations run from Mumbai to the USA, the Middle East and Africa, bundled and end-protected per Packing and Dispatch. Ex-stock sizes dispatch in 7 to 14 working days; larger sizes take 4 to 6 weeks.
One pipe certified to both grades at once: it meets the strength minimums of 304 and the lower carbon limit of 304L simultaneously. That covers both general-service lines and as-welded assemblies from a single stock item, which is why it is the standard modern supply and worth asking for by name.
Practically 16 inch NB in commercial seamless supply. Above that the economics move to welded or EFW construction. Below 16 inch, seamless TP304 is available across schedules 5S through 160 and XXS.
Choose seamless for pressure lines, thermally cycling service, or where a specification mandates it, because the joint-free wall carries a weld joint efficiency of 1.0. For utility, low-pressure and architectural runs, welded TP304 delivers the same grade at a meaningful saving.
Yes. Grade 304 is a food, dairy and potable-water standard, and the seamless route suits pressure and process lines in those services. For product-contact sanitary duty, tube to ASTM A270 is often specified instead; tell us the application and we will route it correctly.
Yes, on regular consolidations from Mumbai with the 3.1 documentation travelling with the cargo. General process and utility piping across all three regions is the steady lane, shipped bundled and end-protected.
