Standard: ASTM A213 / ASME SA213 · Grades: T5, T9, T11, T12, T22, T91 · OD: 12.7 to 127 mm · Walls to 12.7 mm · IBR available
View Product DetailsInside a boiler, every tube has an address, and the address decides the grade. Metinox Overseas is an alloy steel tubes manufacturer and supplier in Mumbai, covering ASTM A213 chrome moly grades T5 through T91 for boiler, superheater and reheater duty, with IBR documentation for Indian installations and export consolidations to the USA, the Middle East and Africa under 3.1 certification. Metal temperature rises zone by zone through the gas path, and the tube grades climb with it, each rung priced for exactly the heat it will see. The full catalogue sits under Pipes & Tubes.
Two clarifications save most confusion in this family. The pipe-side P-grades, same chemistry logic outside the boiler, live on Alloy Steel Pipes. And the zones cool enough for carbon grades, A192 and A210 territory, are covered on Carbon Steel Pipes & Tubes.
Follow the gas path and the ladder writes itself. This is how retube enquiries arrive from people who run boilers, and it is how we quote them.
| Boiler Zone | Typical Metal Duty | Usual Tube |
|---|---|---|
| Economizer & waterwalls | The coolest pressure parts | Carbon A192 / A210, on the carbon steel page |
| Primary superheater / reheater | First real heat | T11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo) |
| Secondary superheater | Hotter, longer creep exposure | T22 (2.25Cr-1Mo) |
| Final superheater / reheater, modern high-parameter units | The 600°C class | T91 (9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb) |
| Refinery heaters | Sulfur-bearing hot streams | T5 / T9 |
Where final-stage temperatures pass even T91's comfort, designs cross into austenitic stainless tube, which is a different family with different rules: see Stainless Steel Tubes.
The A213 envelope runs small ID up to 127 mm OD with walls to 12.7 mm; we hold T11 and T22 in the common boiler ODs from 31.8 to 76.2 mm ex-stock and bring the rest against order. Retube supply includes cut-to-length sets, bends to drawing, and swaged or expanded ends where the design calls for them, shipped crated per bundle so site crews work row by row instead of hunting through a pile.
T22 and P22 share a chemistry but not a life. T-grades under A213 are tubes: OD-and-wall sized, living inside the boiler as heating surface. P-grades under A335 are pipes: NB-and-schedule sized, carrying the steam away outside the casing. Order the wrong letter and the material arrives correct on paper and useless on site, so the letter is worth a second look before the PO goes out.
Everything true of chrome moly pipe welding is true here, concentrated: preheat, matched filler, and post weld heat treatment are part of the job, and T91 tube joints carry the same microstructure discipline as P91, with hardness checks that tell the truth about whether the PWHT was real. Tube-to-header and dissimilar joints to austenitic stages are engineered details on modern boilers; we flag them at quote stage when a retube drawing shows one.
Tubes are hydrostatically or NDE tested per A213 with flattening, flaring and hardness tests per grade, and every order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate, heat-number traceable. IBR Form III-A certification is arranged for Indian boiler installations, and 3.2 witnessing through BV, SGS or TUV for project specs; the quality program is on our Quality Policy page. Export consolidations run from Mumbai to the USA, the Middle East and Africa, crated and end-capped per Packing and Dispatch. Ex-stock dispatches in 7 to 14 working days; made-to-order grades and bend sets take 4 to 6 weeks.
Same chemistry family, different product and standard. T-grades under ASTM A213 are boiler tubes, sized by OD and wall and living inside the boiler as heating surface. P-grades under A335 are pipes, sized by NB and schedule, carrying steam outside the casing. T22 and P22 share an alloy and nothing else about how they are ordered.
When final-stage metal temperatures reach the 600 degree class where T22's creep life shortens. T91 buys nearly double the yield strength and far better creep resistance, paid for with strict heat treatment and welding discipline. The boiler designer's metal temperature calculation, not preference, makes the call.
Yes. Tubes for boilers under the Indian Boiler Regulations ship with IBR Form III-A certification arranged at order stage, alongside the standard 3.1 MTC. State IBR in the enquiry and it is priced in from the first quote.
Yes. Bends to drawing, swaged or expanded ends, and cut-to-length sets are part of retube supply, shipped one crate per bundle so the site works row by row. Send the tube schedule from the boiler drawing and the quote comes back zone by zone.
Yes, on regular consolidations from Mumbai with 3.1 documentation, and IBR or 3.2 papers where ordered, travelling with the cargo. African cogeneration and utility retubes are a regular lane, crated for the inland leg after the port.
