The ferrite-austenite mixture gives it almost twice the strength of commonly used stainless steel types such as 304L and 316L while retaining useful corrosion resistance under moderate conditions. With 23 percent chromium and 4 percent nickel with a small amount of molybdenum, Duplex 2304 is commonly applied in construction, pressure vessel, and structural work.
