SS 310S is much more enriched, with higher Chromium (25%) and Nickel (20%). This enrichment, a more stable protective oxide layer permits the pipe to last longer at higher temperatures, reaching 1100�C, than 304 and 316 which both start scaling at much lower temperatures.
The "S" in low carbon. Standard 310 has a greater carbon content that could result in sensitization (carbide precipitation) during welding or service. 310S reduces the susceptibility of this effect, so the zone of the weld becomes much resistant to corrosion and embrittlement.
ASTM A358 has 5 classes. Class 1 is the double welded with 100% radiography; Class 2 is the double welded with no radiography; Class 3 is the single welded with 100% radiography. We suggest Class 1 when there is high pressure steam or chemical high-pressure line.
