Grade 304L: SS 304L is the austenitic grade alloy stainless steel which is used to develop the components used in the pressure vessels. The stainless steel alloy is having the presence of different alloying elements such as carbon, magnesium, and others. However, the 304l stainless steel pipe grade is having different alloying components which are providing the pipes with several properties.

Pipes are acting as the best conveyors which are transferring the fluids from different pressure applications. Stainless steels commonly used for Austenitic applications are grade 304/304L (UNS S30400/S30403, EN 1.4301/1.4307). Stainless steel is used in practically all sectors, accounting for more than half of all steel manufactured. It accounts for between 60% and half of the consumption of stainless materials.
The Stainless Steel 304L Pipe is having different properties because of the alloy stainless steel present in the development of the pipes. Grade 304L is less prone to precipitating carbide and can be heated to the temperatures ranging between 800-1580°F. Some of the properties which are there with the pipes are corrosion resistance, pitting corrosion resistance, crevice corrosion resistance, and other resistivity properties. This grade of stainless steel is iron-free and has a carbon content ranging from 0.08 to 0.10 percent. These properties are the best reason that industrial applications are using these types of pipes for easy working. In heavy gauge components, it is commonly used since it does not require post-weld annealing. The grade 304L is used in a variety of industries such as seawater pipe systems, petrochemical processing facilities, food processing facilities, paper mills, and others.

Although these two alloys are very similar, there is one
significant difference. The maximum carbon content in
stainless steel grade 304 is 0.08 percent, whereas the
maximum carbon content in stainless steel grade 304L is 0.03
percent. The "L" in 304L can be defined as "low carbon."
The
performance of the two alloys differs little yet noticeably
due to the variation in the carbon content of 0.05 percent.
