Manufacturing Process of SS 304 Pipes
The stainless steel 304 pipes are manufactured through a carefully regulated metallurgical procedure to ensure great resilience, high resistance to corrosion, and accuracy of dimensions. Metinox Overseas provides pipes, which are manufactured in ISO 9001:2015 and certified mills and are, therefore, fully conformed to the ASTM A312 TP304 industrial application standards.
Seamless Pipe Manufacturing
SS 304 smooth pipes are made out of solid billets of stainless steel, which are heated and pierced to create hollow pipes without a weld line. This process produces homogeneous structure and high strength and makes smooth pipes applicable to high-pressure and high-temperature services.
Welded Pipe Manufacturing (ERW / EFW)
Welding stainless steel pipes to tubular shapes- SS 304 is manufactured by welding plates or coils of stainless steel and joining the edges with modern welding equipment. Heat-treatment of the weld seam guarantees strength and good finish and these pipes are cost-effective and reliable in terms of application in common use.
Heat Treatment & Annealing
Solution annealing of all SS 304 pipes is done at controlled temperatures in order to revert them to austenitic structure. This enhances corrosion resistance, internal stress relief, and even mechanical properties that are uniform throughout the length of the pipe.
Pickling & Passivation
Pipes post-heat treatment are pickled to eliminate the surface oxides, followed by passivation to improve the inherent chromium oxide layer. This enhances the cleanliness of the surface, as well as gives long-term protection against corrosion.
Quality Control & Testing

SS 304 Welded Pipes
Made of coils/strips through ERW (Electric Resistance Welding), or EFW (Electric Fusion Welding) processes. Economical solution between 1/2" to 36" NB, used with low to medium pressure applications in construction, water supply and overall industrial usage.

Round Pipes
Conforming to ANSI/ASME B36.19 and B36.10 dimensions of standard circular cross-section. They are available in NPS 1/8 to 36in. with schedules 5S to XXS. The most popular type of fluid transportation, process piping, and structural.
Square Pipes
Hollow square sections of 10mm x 10mm to 200mm x 200mm and wall thickness of 1.2mm to 12mm. Applied to architectural railings, structural frames, furniture and decorative purposes where they need to be aesthetically pleasing as well as corrosion resistant.

Industrial Grade (Annealed & Pickled):
Normal mill finish and has matte gray surface. Annealed at 1038-1121 o C and pickled with acid to remove scale. Applicable to general industrial piping, chemical plants and utility systems.
Sanitary/Hygienic Grade
Electropolished internal finish of Ra < 0.4 microns, which is 3-A, FDA 21 CFR 177 and EHEDG standards. It has applications in food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical and biotech with a specific focus on applications that demand bacterial-resistant surfaces and CIP/SIP compatibility.
Polished/Decorative Grade
Polished either to No.4 (satin) or No.6 (dull polish) or No.8 (mirror). Applied to architectural facades, interior design, decorative columns, kitchen, and appliances and installations of high aesthetic values.
Honed Tubes Precision
finished internal bore having H7/H8/H9 tolerance and surface roughness of 0.2-0.4 microns. Designed to suit hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic, shock absorbers, and applications that need the precision of ID dimensions and extremely smooth sliding surfaces.

Welding Process for SS 304 ERW Pipe
SS 304 has excellent weldability by all standard fusion methods, both with and without filler metals. Heavy welded sections in standard 304 may require post-weld annealing for maximum corrosion resistance, a step not required for grade 304L. Common methods include TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), SAW (Submerged Arc Welding), and Plasma welding.
