Brass Pipe fittings serve the major function of connecting multiple pipes. However, the size and diameter of these pipes may vary, but the fittings are designed to connect any pipe of different sizes. Their main purpose is to maintain the right amount of flow within the pipe. Moreover, they are used to prevent leakage from the pipe as they contain toxic substances, and leakage will cause an enormous amount of damage to life and property. Several different kinds of fitting serve this purpose. These are unions, adapter, elbow, plug, reducer, cross-type, couplings, cap, and valve.
The fittings provide different directional changes to the pipe. Elbow is available in three angles like 22.5, 45, and 90. Pipes of the same diameter are connected using the elbow, whereas others are connected using reducers. A reducer is used when the size of the flow has to be changed from larger to smaller. The concentric reducer has a cone-shaped structure that decreases gradually around the pipe. As a result, cavitation occurs.On the other hand, cavitation or air accumulation is not possible when eccentric reducers are used. An important fitting of the plumping system is the tee type that has a T shape. This one has two outlets and inlets arranged at an angle. These help in combining the flow from different inlets and outlets to the pipe.
